So said my friendly assistant in the Home Depot. I agree 100%. I went in there yesterday morning feeling rather grumpy, due to a heavy cold, combined with paint intoxication, and the news a friend of mine in Calgary had thrown herself off a bridge. She went to heaven without telling me she was leaving. So I guess, I had good reason to feel grumpy. My sombre grey t-shirt displayed every colour I had used in the basement and back garden - Moroccan red, custard yellow, virgin white, Greek blue and fern green. I sure was colourful, but nothing compared to my friendly Home Depot lady. As I went to pay for my paint supplies, I got a whiff of cocount oil from this sunny, smiling girl who was wearing a beautiful cheery garland of flowers around her neck. "Hi there" she said with a smile that warmed my weary heart. "How are you today?" Do your really want to know I thought to myself..because if you do..I wondered if I should tell her about my friend who jumped off the bridge but then the line up behind us was too big. "You know every day should be Hawaii Day" she continued. "Have you ever been?" I asked her. "No, my mum has been 5 times and loves it. I want to go SO badly".
"Me too" I agreed. Just then memories of the happiest family holiday we ever had, in Hawaii, flooded my mind and as I left the store with the perfume of coconut oil wafting in the air, I felt happy again. "It is the first day of summer and that is why we should all celebrate" the lovely girl continued.
I thought about this nice girl for the rest of the day and it reminded me of something I had read some time ago about how being cheery and friendly, like a smile - it costs nothing, but creates much. It can brighten an otherwise tedious day and pour sunshine onto the daily lives of others.
So, with all that in mind, I dressed up today like as if I was on holidays in Hawaii - minus the lei! What fun I had! Every place I went, people would smile and say "I love your colours".. "love the top"... "What a beautiful colour green". It was sunshine and smiles all around.
So without further ado...Go out there and make every day a Hawaii Day!! Coconut oil...flowers in hair...and tonight light up the barbecue...
Enjoy!

So How Did You Get Interested in Astrology?
I would say I get asked the above question more often that I get asked the time. For those of you a tad curious, let me entertain you...
I grew up in a family of four girls. Two of us were introverts and the other two extroverts. Sadly for me, I was the former and believe me, the world really does give extroverts a far easier time. Not fair I agree. I was painfully and pathologically shy, so it was a source of enormous angst for me to be constantly compared to my more outgoing sisters. I got it at school and I got it from extended family. "What's wrong with Patricia?" - In other words everything's wrong with Patricia. No kidding - I felt a freak! I began to ask myself the same question. How on earth could the four of us girls have come out from the same genetic oven, baked by the same parents, using the same genetic ingredients, and yet be SO darn different? It just didn't make sense. I was the runt!
One magnificent day when I was 12, I found a book on Astrology lying around the house. It belonged to my mother. Curiosity got the better of me and I began to read it. Wow! It was a mega watt light bulb moment for me. I was blind, but now I could really see. The description for me was incredibly accurate, as it was for each of my sisters. There was an explanation after all as to how we were all SO different. As I progressed with my study I discovered that in actual fact I was 'normal' and not a freak. People with my astrological make-up tended to be shy and introverted, especially with that nasty planet Saturn, a.k.a. 'The Celestial Policeman' being my ruler. It sure was no barrel of laughs having that killjoy breathing down your neck! which is why I was SO serious as a child.
No wonder Astrology became an instant hit with me! It validated my very existence. It helped me to understand why I was the way I was and that Yes! I had good qualities too. The advantage of being an introvert meant I had less time for chatter and more time to really pay attention and focus on important stuff, such as putting astrology to the test. After my family, I began observing my teachers and fellow classmates. Before long, I was able to guess a person's sign with little difficulty. It really worked - 40 years on - it's still working.
Whenever I met somebody who didn't seem 'typical' of their sign, it would bother me hugely, as by now Astrology was my BFF and I did not want to be disillusioned, so I would ask the person their DOB and time of birth and delve a little deeper. The sign I had guessed them to be, was either their moon sign or ascendant. I then discovered for myself the importance of a person's rising sign, as determined by the time and place of birth, not least of all the moon sign and position - huge!
I feel very fortunate that I discovered Astrology at such a young age. I have studied it formally through the Irish Astrological Association and the British Faculty of Astrological Science in the U.K. But even more important, I have spent a lifetime putting it to the test. And the magical thing about Astrology is that even after 7,000 years of its known existence...there is still lots more to learn! It is ever evolving.
It is truly a fantastic tool for life and has helped me enormously in every area - from the professional side of things to the personal. It has made me more tolerant of others and best of all - it is so much fun!
Hope that answers your question!
Cheers and bye for now,
